Intersection Instructions

An intersection is a place where paths cross. If you’d like to invite others to join you for a cup of coffee, a drink or even a piece of famous Chicago-style pizza while you discuss your website, your ‘ship, your favorite character, your artwork, your knitting – or anything else! – just put together an Intersection. We’ve collected popular locations in downtown Chicago near the Hilton Chicago Hotel to get you started.

Instructions

First, choose a fandom organization, a 'ship, a craft, anything that might be a common interest for your Intersection. Then, review our information below to choose a location, date and time. You may need to use the information provided to contact the location regarding suitable ages; some locations do require guests to be at least 21 years old during certain hours. Finally, follow the e-mail instructions below to let us know about your Intersection. We'll list your Intersection on our website, , and provide you with a forwarding e-mail address so people can contact you.

E-mail instructions:

  1. Send us an e-mail at intersections@terminus2008.org with the following information:
    Your name or alias, as you want it listed on our website;
    Your e-mail address at which you want to receive e-mail forwards;
    The purpose, group or focus of your Intersection;
    Location;
    Date;
    Time; and
    Any restrictions on attendance, such as age.

  2. We'll create a forwarding e-mail address so that others with the same interest can contact you.

  3. Finally, we'll add this information to your listing here.

Please note that Terminus does not make reservations or arrangements for attendees' Intersections, and does not assume or accept any responsibility or liability for any Intersection in any way, including for Intersection correspondence or activities that occur during any Intersection.

Also, keep in mind that the final day to have your Intersection included in our program book is May 25, 2008. Those who wish their Intersections to be scheduled outside of programming hours may wish to look into the morning or afternoon of August 7, between 12 noon and 2 p.m. on August 9, or between 5 and 8 p.m. on August 10.

To view the list of current Intersections, please click here.

Locations

The following list details information about locations in and around the Hilton Chicago Hotel, and may be of help to you in planning your Intersection. Terminus provides this list for informational purposes only, and makes no guarantees or recommendations regarding any of the locations. We do, however, recommend calling the restaurant or location directly for the most current open hours and forms of payment accepted, and to make your reservations. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of any information on this page.

Of course, our list is only a sample of the many unique Chicago locations where you might hold an Intersection, and you may find other recommendations online at sites such as ChicagoRestaurants.com or the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau, which will send brochures with the widest range of local restaurants, bars, and attractions.

If you prefer to simply arrange a meeting point for a group outing, the Hilton Chicago Hotel has several easily-spotted places to gather in the lobby and entrance, including the clock or grand staircase near the main entrance off Michigan Avenue. If you are looking for a gathering place at no cost, there are several intimate seating areas located throughout the lobby. For larger groups, you may want to venture across Michigan Avenue to Grant Park or arrange to meet at Buckingham Fountain; the park is open to the public.

If your establishment is listed below and you'd like to make an update, or you'd like to have a location added to this list, please send your information to intersections@terminus2008.org.
