Wrock Chicago - | - Twenty-Fifth Band Competition

In 2000, the Switchblade Kittens rocked the Harry Potter fan community with “Ode to Harry.” In 2002, Harry and the Potters began playing libraries around the country. In 2008, more than 400 bands reimagined Harry Potter on the electric guitar, the piano, even the hammered dulcimer – a phenomenon known as “wizard rock.” Also in 2008, in a special pre-conference event, Terminus will present Wrock Chicago, the largest wizard rock concert in the history of the Harry Potter fan community!

Wrock Chicago will feature 30 wizarding bands over three stages, celebrating both the exceptional creativity of the bands themselves and the Harry Potter series that inspired them. The concert will start at 11:00 a.m. and won’t finish until 1:00 a.m., and many of the bands will have merchandise available for purchase for anyone looking for a CD or a t-shirt for a favorite band or two.

Tickets for this once-in-a-lifetime event are now available to both Terminus attendees and those who aren’t able to attend the conference itself. The cost is $20 for Terminus attendees and $30 for non-attendees, which includes access to all three stages and all 30 bands. Please note that the event’s schedule includes 24 bands performing on two stages from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., time off in the evening so concert-goers can have dinner on their own, and then, starting at 7:00 p.m., six headliners on a third stage in a room designed to accommodate all ticketholders. A schedule of performances will be available later this summer.

We hope you’ll join us for this historic event. We’re going to wrock Chicago – and we hope you are, too!

Wrock Chicago - | - Twenty-Fifth Band Competition

Twenty-Fifth Band Competition

In the winter of 2008, Terminus held a competition looking for a twenty-fifth band for our Wrock Chicago lineup. We received dozens of entries, and witnessed first-hand the amazing community that wizard rock has built.

While we did choose a winner – and we’d like to congratulate Tonks and the Aurors! – we were unable to turn down so many amazing bands. Thanks to a private donor who wishes to remain anonymous, we’re thrilled to say that the Twenty-Fifth Band Competition brought us not only a twenty-fifth band, but a twenty-sixth, a twenty-seventh, a twenty-eighth, a twenty-ninth and a thirtieth!

We’re proud to welcome the following bands to our lineup, and while we weren’t able to offer a spot in our lineup to everyone, we do want to say that we were simply amazed by how many entries we received and how fantastic they were. Thank you to everyone who entered!
