Staff

Amy Tenbrink, Lead Event Organizer
Amy spends her days practicing corporate, intellectual property and technology law at a Fortune 500 company in Colorado. Her nights and weekends over the last fifteen years have involved managing a wide variety of events, starting with her high school's theatrical productions, marching band shows and sporting events. Most notably, she has planned GRAMMY in the Schools for the University of Southern California and helmed the kickoff conference for the Department of Justice's Intellectual Property Rights Initiative. Most recently, she organized The Witching Hour, a Harry Potter conference in Salem, Massachusetts, and Phoenix Rising, a Harry Potter conference in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Her experience includes all aspects of event planning, from logistics and marketing to legal consulting and budget management, and she holds degrees with honors from both the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music and the Georgetown University Law Center.

Hallie Tibbetts, Lead Event Organizer
Hallie has found that, no matter how hard one tries to escape, education won't let go. An honors graduate of the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music, she taught K-8 music classes for the Broad Prize-winning Long Beach Unified School District in California before becoming a Lead Event Organizer for The Witching Hour, which explored all things Harry Potter in Salem, Massachusetts, in 2005. Having found that conference planning won't let go either, Hallie recently organized Phoenix Rising, a Harry Potter conference, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Hallie has held various educational positions in which she taught Japanese English teachers to swear, pre-schoolers to identify parts of the digestive tract, and eighth graders to love the opera. Despite this, her main areas of interest are urban education, cross-curricular integration, supporting second-language learners, the pre-K-16 continuum, and continuing education.

-----

Renee Antoine, Marketing Coordinator
Renee holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and is currently working as a wilderness counselor in Northern Alabama where she spends her days playing in mud and hiking up and down mountains. When Renee isn't counting bug bites, she likes to cook, crochet, and play with her cats. She is also an avid reader and fondly remembers the day she first read Harry Potter. In the past, Renee has served as the Assistant Chair of Registration for The Witching Hour and was a founding member of hp-ohio.

Sarah Benoot, Exploratory Programming Coordinator
Sarah is a member of species cubicus dwellerus in Arizona. Her current position allows little usage of her A.A.S. in Video Production from the Art Institute of Phoenix, but she practices constant vigilance for that script-writing, lighting, or editing emergency that is sure to come up any time now. Her wide-ranging fandom activities include serving as a Coder Elf for FictionAlley's Fic Intake Team, Assistant Chair of Formal Programming for The Witching Hour, Exploratory Programming Coordinator for Phoenix Rising, and just being amazed and impressed by the stories and art she sees produced every day.

Jen Boxerman, Press Coordinator
Jen received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Oregon in 2000 and has spent the last seven years managing artists, events, operations, venues and volunteers in the San Francisco nonprofit sector. Now a Chicagoan, Jen is sales and events manager for a theatrical venue and completing a master's degree in Nonprofit Administration through the University of San Francisco. When she is not exploring Chicago or obsessing about Harry Potter, she can be found seeking opportunities to carry a walkee and a clipboard. Jen is an enthusiastic newbie to the Harry Potter and wizard rock fandoms and is looking forward to playing a role in Terminus.

Sabrina Chin, Website Coordinator
Sabrina works full time as a software developer for a telecommunications company located in the Washington, D.C., area. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and is currently attending classes in the evenings to obtain her Master's degree part-time. She volunteered for Nimbus — 2003 as a member of both the Editing & Publishing team and the Web team. As Chair of Technology for The Witching Hour, she oversaw the audio-visual needs of the event, along with the creation and maintenance of the conference's website and its registration and submission systems. She returned to do the same for Phoenix Rising, under the title of Website Coordinator. Sabrina co-created the site layout design of FictionAlley and its related websites, where she volunteered as a member of the technology team.

Heather Clark, Financial Coordinator
Heather recently completed a dual JD/MBA degree with an emphasis in Tax and Corporate Finance at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Prior to returning to school, she worked as senior financial analyst for a Fortune 300 manufacturing company. She has also held various positions in accounting, business development, and investment banking. Heather received a Bachelor of Science from Vanderbilt University majoring in Economics, Political Science, and Philosophy.

Sharon Goetz, Academic Programming Coordinator
Too fond of textuality for her own good, Sharon works for a print-and-digital project that creates critical editions. She has also written software manuals, taught college writing courses oriented around speculative fiction and King Arthur, and completed a Ph.D. investigating medieval English chronicles amidst their manuscript contexts. Sharon's event-planning experience includes coordinating Phoenix Rising's academic programming and serving as Programming Secretary for The Witching Hour; in 2002 she chaired the Medieval Performativity conference that celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of the UC Berkeley Beowulf Marathon. Sharon has lurked happily in the Harry Potter fandom since 2003.

Lauren Kent, Audio-Visual Coordinator
Lauren works in IT at a major investment firm in New York City, but she didn't learn all she knows about audio-visual design there; she picked that up during three years of student employment while attending NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Study. It was then that she had her first real taste of event planning, organizing charity line parties for local Harry Potter and Star Wars fans. Lauren has also worked as a website and audio-visual team volunteer for The Witching Hour and Phoenix Rising, collaborated on the creation of FictionAlley's current layout, and exercised her entrepreneurial side while co-founding Wizard Ties and atypically.knit. In what little spare time remains, Lauren can be found in many of New York's dingy rock clubs, dancing, peering through the viewfinder of her camera, and occasionally dissecting her favorite bands' sound design.

Linnea Lewis, Volunteer Coordinator
Linnea spends most of her time fixing problems and solving crises as the head of a Project Management Office at a Fortune 500 company. In her past life, she has also been an event organizer, worked on Emmy Award-winning television programs in Hollywood, and helped to develop a volunteer afterschool program for at-risk kids in urban Chicago. In her spare time, Linnea finds joy in cooking and making up new recipes, although her ability to bake resembles Hagrid’s cakes and cookies. She holds degrees with honors from both North Park University in Chicago and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Terminus will be the first Harry Potter event she's participated in and she's excited be a part of it!

Manda Pommer, Design Coordinator
Manda, who finds that first "A" to be just a little too sharp to include in her name, holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, which she's put to use researching joining methods of carbon composites for the Air Force. Memberships in various organizations in college gave her experience with planning workshops, community service events, fundraisers, and of course, parties. Manda has always made it a habit to draw, color and doodle on just about everything within reach and loves themes far more than anyone really should. Until recently, she resided in the state of Ohio, where she had the fortune of working with other fans to create an organization for adult Harry Potter fans, hp-ohio. hp-ohio has furthered her opportunities to be involved in event planning with monthly meetings, Yule balls, book releases and Quidditch leagues, eventually leading her to volunteer for Phoenix Rising and join the staff for Terminus.

Sharina Pratt, Logistics Coordinator
A twenty-something, recent college graduate from the Rosen School of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida, Sharina works for an exposition and event services company that produces shows in every major convention market across North America and the United Kingdom. She previously worked at Universal Orlando CityWalk as a Team Leader at Bob Marley: A Tribute to Freedom. Her most entertaining job to date was with SeaWorld Florida, where she had the privilege of driving around a Volkswagen Beetle in the shape of Shamu. Sharina previously held the position of Chair of Registration for The Witching Hour, a Harry Potter symposium, as well as for Phoenix Rising.

Amy Wilson, Registration & Information Coordinator
Amy worked for more than five years in the travel industry, but found herself drawn back to the academic world by her love of literature, history and folklore. She is currently an administrative assistant by day while attending school to finish her Bachelor of Arts degree. Amy began planning and organizing events in high school, where she was project manager for the drama club and stage manager for several school and community theater productions. She has been active in the Harry Potter fandom since 2003 and enjoys reading and writing fanfiction. Amy was Assistant Chair of Security and Volunteer Coordinator for The Witching Hour, a Harry Potter conference in Salem, Massachusetts, and coordinated travel, hotel accommodations, volunteers, and the on-site information desk for Phoenix Rising.
